I'm a happy hacker who *enjoys* the challenges that riding a friesian mare throws up. We're both stubborn beyond belief and so can frequently be seen doing 20m circles in the pouring rain before i have to leave for work. I've been on the Committee for the past 4 years. acting as secretary for 2 of those and stepping up as Chair this year. I'm looking forward to a busy year - weather depending - and hopefully lots more success for Renfrewshire RC in Area Qualifiers and Competitions.

I have been a RRC committee member for 16 years, with a  break of 2 years to recharge my batteries!!  I have been riding since I was 8 years old -  my first pony was a 14.2hh which I could not steer or stop!  My first summer consisted of leading it down to the bottom of the field, mounting from a water trough and galloping back to the top, and repeating again and again.  I have competed in every discipline BE, BSJA and unaffiliated Dressage and successfully competed in WH with my precious Barney then SH with Sandi. My 3rd bay horse Connor, a wee Irish Dude with attitude.  Looking forward to 2014 and taking part in RRC activities.

I am a riding club mum who occasionally gets a wee shot! I have ridden since childhood and on and off for most of my life. I realised my dream and bought my own horse in 2009. At about the same time I discovered the horse-mad gene had been passed on to my children and we took a wee pony on loan shared with a friend. Since then we have had some wonderful and also some 'character building' ponies! Eventually it became apparent they needed one each so I sold my horse and bought a wee 11.2 Dartmoor called Ollie who has been worth his weight in gold and is a well known regular at RRC events. He is now on loan at Lawmarnock and we currently have a 13hh youngster called Spiral and a 16hh mare called Gaby. We've had great fun at RRC events over the years and found it to be a friendly and supportive environment to ride and compete. We are looking forward to a busy and hopefully successful 2016!

Linda Hamilton Shaw - Schooling

This is my third year on the RRC committee. I have had various hairy beasts since about 10 years old and taken part, with mixed success, in jumping, dressage, x country at local level over the years. I currently own Buffy and Plover, one a 19 year old Welsh cob x and the other a 2 yr old warmblood x. I usually have my hands full with one horsey drama or another. Hoping to venture into the land of showing this year.

After several years on and off horses I have recently returned to this lovely hobby, this time with a more focused and directed approach. It started with loaning a lovely, yet very opinionated, welsh section D gelding called Toby. This is when I realised that loaning a horse is a completely different ball game than riding schools. I have learned so much about horse care, feeding and maintenance in the process. Following Toby's departure to a new home it was time to step up my game. This is when my journey with a thoroughbred mare, Zig, began. Seven months on, from the wildling that she was, bucking after the first step in walk, we now enjoy hacks, schooling and recently even bucking free jumping! Hopefully we will join the club events soon, especially cross country.

After a break of almost 30 years(!!!!!) I got back into horses when our daughter nagged (get it) her completely non horsey dad & I into riding lessons for her Christmas. Almost 3 years and a baptism of fire later we now have 6 yr old Holly - a lovely TBx - that we hope to really do a bit of everything with...our dream is xc! ...well actually -mine is to manage a prelim test....which I hope I can achieve this year with the support of RRC!
